Foxboro, Ma, June 2024 – Danby window air conditioners will be given to vulnerable seniors in St. Louis as part of Ameren Electric’s Cool Down St. Louis program. These much-needed cooling units were purchased from retailer, Grainger.
Senior citizens are the most vulnerable to heat stroke and other severe health complications when the extreme heat hits. Heat-related deaths have been increasing in the U.S., with approximately 2,302 in 2023, as per the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. With temps on the rise and one of the predicted hottest summers on record, Ameren is gearing up to launch its Cool Down St. Louis summer program that provides assistance and utility bill help to seniors in the St. Louis area.
“Danby is pleased to know that seniors in St. Louis will benefit from the cooling effects of our popular window air conditioners”, stated Jim Estill, Owner and CEO of Danby Products. “Our mission is “Do The Right Thing” and keeping our vulnerable seniors safe is a testament to that. We thank Ameren Electric and Grainger for this much needed program.”
For the second year in a row Danby Window air conditioners have been chosen to give out to the community this summer. Danby’s 6,000 BTU window air conditioner that cools up to 250 square feet, is equipped with a 24-hour programmable timer, sleep mode, and energy saver switch, which helps cut costs and ultimately saves on monthly utility bills.
