Why should I buy a MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® brand combination appliance when I can buy refrigerators and microwaves separately, for less money?

Answer: The other appliances available are built for home use and are not built to withstand the more rigorous demands of the commercial market place. The genuine MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® combination appliance is built to meet more stringent commercial specifications. This innovative design will insure that the MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® will look better and last longer than those less expensive residential model appliances.

What are other significant differences with MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® appliances?

Answer: The key feature that is truly revolutionary is our patent-pending Safe Plug® integrated current- limiting circuitry. This unique power management technology automatically shuts off the refrigerator and charging outlets when the microwave is on, thus limiting the maximum electrical draw to less than 13 amps*. Traditional refrigerators and microwaves can pull nearly twice that amount. This large draw of electricity could overload electrical systems and create problems that could be a big nuisance or worse, those less expensive units could in fact, lead to some very expensive repairs.

Another benefit our Safe Plug® technology offers is the ability to operate both the refrigerator, microwave and charging outlets utilizing only one electrical socket. The refrigerator plugs into the back of the microwave and the microwave plugs into the wall. This one-plug-to-the-wall operation saves valuable outlet space.

Plus the MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® features a convenient Dual Outlet Charge Station allowing you to charge electronics that draw 4 amps or less – items like laptops, MP3 players, cell phones, digital cameras and more … this is a unique feature not available on any other appliance.

My building is fairly new, why would this Safe Plug® technology be important?

Answer: Even if your building is not that old, there still may be some issues regarding electrical capacity in your rooms. Unless you have a dedicated electrical circuit for the refrigerator and microwave, you may run the risk of overloading circuits. In addition, when you add the use of other electrical appliances - items such as hair dryers, coffee makers, irons, and such - total power consumption increases. By using the genuine MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® you can eliminate potential problems caused by using multiple appliances simultaneously.

I have seen advertisements for other microwave and refrigerator combinations, and they seem to be cheaper - why?

Answer: None of the other units has the patent-pending Safe Plug® integrated current limiting circuitry. This power management technology is only available on genuine MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® appliances. Other units won't resolve circuit overload issues, they will only add to the problem. In addition, they cannot provide the ability to charge common electronic devices such as laptops, cell phones, MP3 players and digital cameras/camcorders.

I don't want the refrigerator and microwave to be attached together, is that a problem?

Answer: MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® combination appliances can be installed separately to accommodate custom applications. However by keeping the microwave oven within 5 feet of the refrigerator, the unit can operate using Safe Plug® technology. When determining the 5 foot distance, you should measure from the bottom left of the refrigerator (when looking at the back of the unit) where the cord is attached.

I have dedicated circuits in my rooms, so I really don't need Safe Plug®, why should I spend more?

Answer: In those applications where there is ample electrical capability, we offer a 2-plug version of our combination appliance - without the Safe Plug® technology. These units, available with a dial microwave, boast the same quality construction.

What about warranty and service?

Answer: MicroFridge® offers a comprehensive warranty - the longest in the industry. Whereas most competitive units offer a one year warranty on key components such as the compressor, sealed system and magnetron, MicroFridge® covers these key components for a full 10 years (parts and labor). There is nothing that compares to MicroFridge® when it comes to service.

What is the amperage on the combination appliance?

Answer: The amps vary by model but will never exceed 13 amps.

Models 2.4MF-7TP, 2.9MF-7TP, 3.6MFAE-7TP and 4.8MF-7TP will not utilize more than 11 amps.

Models 4.8MF-9TP, 5.6MF-9TP and 10.3MF- 9TP will not utilize more than 13 amps.

What happens if you plug in an item over 4 amps in the Charging Station?

Answer: No worries – a built in safety feature turns off the green light, alerting you that no charging is taking place in that outlet. Simply unplug the item and hit the reset button.

When you need to use the microwave while charging something, you’ll notice that the green light flashes – so you know that the power management system is working – and power to the outlets is temporarily interrupted. Once cooking is complete, power to the Charge Station resumes and the green light becomes illuminated, indicating charging is taking place once again.

Can I interchange the new Microwave with an old refrigerator? Or conversely, can I interchange the old Microwave with the new refrigerator?

Answer: Yes. The new refrigerator models have the same footprint as before. So all the dimensions for the black and white combination models are the same – height, width, depth and weight.

The stainless steel microwave is slightly larger than the previous 600 watt model. The stainless steel microwave is now .7 cu. Ft , 700-watts and measures 10 5/8” H x 18 1/8” W x 12 13/16” D - the same dimensions as the black and white microwaves – designed to fit conveniently on top of the refrigerator.

What do I do if I want a dial microwave instead of a touchpad model?

Answer: We do have dial microwaves available however they do not have the Safe Plug® power management technology built in. Our 2-plug version of the combination appliance features the dial microwave - with the same quality construction.

What is the difference between an ice compartment and a zero degree freezer?

Answer: The ice compartment in single door refrigerators are not designed for long term freezing. It’s best for ice cubes and other items with a high water content. Unfortunately , the ice compartment cannot keep ice cream or frozen dinners, frozen.

The MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® 2-door combination appliance offers a separate, spacious true zero-degree freezer (or frost free freezer – depending on the model) compartment that can hold and freeze ice cream, frozen entrees, frozen juices, and plenty of ice. The MicroFridge® with Safe Plug® also comes with a built-in ice scraper for those occasions when the freezer needs to be defrosted.

What is the benefit of a frost-free freezer?

Answer: A frost-free freezer does not need defrosting. So there is no need to scrape off accumulated ice from the freezer as in manual defrost freezers. Food stored inside is easier to see because it’s clear of ice and it’s easier to access since the food doesn’t stick together. The freezer it should be cleaned out once a year or more often if dirt or food residues are visible. Simply turn off the power source. Empty the freezer, wipe it with a baking soda solution, rinse, towel it dry and then replace the food.

What is CEE status?

Answer: When the federal or state government establishes appliance and equipment standards, they are setting the bar for minimum energy efficiency of products. The goal of Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), is increased adoption of energy-efficient technologies. To qualify for the CEE product lists, models must meet the efficiency specifications developed by CEE.

Tier 1 = 20% Better than Federal Standards (model 10.3MF-9TP meets this criteria)
