Saving Energy
ENERGY STAR®
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
Using high efficiency compressors, improved insulation, and more precise temperature and defrost mechanisms to improve energy efficiency, ENERGY STAR refrigerators use about half the energy of older models and use at least 20% less energy than required by current federal standards (and 40% less energy than the conventional models sold in 2001.)
In addition, many MicroFridge with Safe Plug® models qualify for the CEE designation.
When the federal or state government establishes appliance and equipment standards, they are setting the bar for minimum energy efficiency of products. The goal of Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), is increased adoption of energy-efficient technologies. To qualify for the CEE product lists, models must meet the efficiency specifications developed by CEE as follows:
Tier 1 = 20% Better than Federal Standards (model 10.3MF-9TP meets this criteria)
Tier 2 = 25% Better than Federal Standards (model 5.6MF-9TP meets this criteria)
Tier 3 = 30% Better than Federal Standards (models 2.9MF-7TP, 2.9MF-7TPS, 2.9MF-7TPW meet this criteria)
